Will these boxes handle books or would they be too heavy for this type box with handles?

We transported books in these boxes. The handle-cut-outs are not reinforced, so some extra packing tape across the box-ends above the cut-outs was necessary. They were not too heavy, but we used dollies for moving them out of our old building and into our new one. Some creative packing was necessary to ensure that the boxes were full to the top without distorting the shape. The side walls are not strong enough to handle stacking if the contents of the box do not completely fill the box.  

How much weight can each box carry?

First of all you don't want to pack a big box to heavy if you can not handle it. I use these boxes for my business transporting merchandise (China, glassware). I find that its a great product at a great price.
